Broken Lines Ring
Adding a conceptual approach to ring design, Emmy van Leersum shows that jewelry is more than a decorative accessory.
The Broken Lines ring is a unique remake of a design from 1982 by Leersum, a pioneer of the Dutch “New Jewelry” movement, and is based on a two-dimensional drawing that features straight lines intersecting and breaking with each other. Translatingto “Who’s afraid of… ?”, Chi ha pair… ? implicitly poses the question, “Who’s afraid of contemporary jewelry?”
Inviting designers and jewelers to wrestle with this question and many others, the group works toward smart jewelry that can be made accessible to the public through production.
