Gap Side Table
Inspired by the traditional manufacturing techniques for marble furniture, renowned Japanese design studio Nendo has envisioned the Gap Side Table as a statuesque marble block. Featuring precise and harmonious proportions, the form of the table is a direct reference to the way marble manufacturing begins: by cutting marble slabs from a larger block. In typical fashion of the designer, there is a subtle twist within the object giving it a unique appearance. The rectilinear form of the table has been cut with a notch that becomes a functional place to insert books and magazines. This opening creates a unique form that adds intrigue to the side table. The design is intentionally compact yet stabilized by its hefty weight and the narrow top is a perfect place to effortlessly rest a coffee mug or a pair of eye-glasses. Additionally, as there is no unfinished side, the table may be placed in any way. The Gap Side Table is available in white Carrara or black Marquinia versions.
